A Grain of Salt  A second round of freezing rain hit the state overnight and early Tuesday morning. This overnight round of icing impacted much more of Central Iowa, including US!  After 2:00 a.m. freezing rain filled in through Central Iowa and even brought thunderstorms which had Rosie all discombobulated but Ruby stayed calm and collected while Thor just tried to get some sleep.  The freezing rain and drizzle accumulated anywhere from a light glazing to 0.25″ by 8 a.m.  Most areas received around 0.1″ of ice, though even a light glazing is enough to make travel nearly impossible. A central swath received 0.25″ seeing at least minor tree damage or power interruptions as winds picked up into Tuesday morning and midday.  A Winter Weather Advisory remained in place for freezing rain until noon on Tuesday for most of Iowa where even the gravel roads were thoroughly ice coated.  Soooo today is just a great day to stay inside where it's nice and warm doing some baking and keeping the babies from getting into mischief.  |

Just been snow wind and now plain cold. -14 this morning got up to 3 briefly this afternoon.

Ice storms are dreadful and can be deadly. I'm glad you were relatively unscathed. Here is is still cold with highs of +8F and lows of -12F. There is enough snow that it is difficult to get around, even where it has been plowed. There is no relief in sight for us. I went to the city today; there was a lot of bumpy ice on the highway.

Yep we are getting another round of crappy weather just in time for the weekend.
